I was biking to the gym Monday morning and I heard birds squawking overhead. I stopped my bike and watched as at least 50 beautiful green parakeets squawked and flew from the tree to the telephone lines over my head. What an amazing sight.
Wednesday night I went to a ladies night out with a group of girls from the park. It was an appetizer cooking demonstration put on by 2 ladies (The Cooking Ladies http://www.blogger.com/www.thecookingladies.com) who write cookbooks (Recipes from the Road) and are restaurant consultants from Ontario. They owned a restaurant in St. Jacobs, worked as cooking consultants for Home Hardware, write culinary travelogues and feature articles for the Waterloo Chronicle. They bought a 40' coach and have travelled for the past 20 years...you can imagine the stories they shared about 2 females travelling the US and Canada in a coach.
The past 2 days we have been housebound as temperatures have been below freezing. They cancelled schools yesterday and today due to cold temperatures. Highways were closed late yesterday afternoon due to freezing rain and since they don't have salt and sand stocked for snow and ice they dumped gravel on the roads to help prevent accidents. The temps are supposed to rise by noon into the 40's, 60's tomorrow and 70's on Sunday. Crazy weather we have in the Lone Star State. It can only get better...I hope!
